Would you believe that celluloid film—despite being less than 1mm thick—contains a large amount of silver?

Combining a passion for film, design and sustainability, From The Silver Screen (FTSS) create luxury jewellery with upcycled silver from film strips. As part of the process to develop the image from the celluloid, silver is extracted from film and becomes a waste product. FTSS then refine this metal and upcycle it into a luxury keepsake.

The harvested silver comes from some of the biggest cinematic releases, processed at Cinelab Film & Digital, meaning FTSS’s necklaces, rings, earrings and bracelets started life as microscopic silver crystals in the film strips of Saltburn, Maestro, All Of Us Strangers and many more. The jewellery is both a literal and metaphorical homage to film, with the designs inspired by cinematic milestones or the actual mechanics of analog film.

From The Silver Screen are also proud to be donating profits to MediCinema, the charity dedicated to bringing the transformative power of cinema to hospitals.
